If you’ve spent some time reading PBO Group’s blog posts, cruising our PBO Group social channels, or watching our recent Osseointegration Reunion broadcast, you’ve probably picked up on the fact that our clinical teams are pretty enthusiastic about OI.
At the same time, we also know that it’s not always an ideal option for every person living with an amputation. Taking our online Is Osseointegration Right For You questionnaire is a great first step in determining if you might be a good candidate. PBO Group’s Certified Prosthetists at our Toronto, Niagara, Peterborough, Barrie and Owen Sound clinics are also always available to meet with clients to discuss the pros and cons of Osseointegration as an alternative to traditional socket-based prosthetics.
In our work to educate Ontarians about Osseointegration, PBO Group is committed to sharing different perspectives in the conversation. Recently, we learned of a research-based study called Osseointegration Symptoms On The Road To Mobility. Authored by Kirsten Woodend and Kathryn Hawkins with assistance from students of the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing, the study compiles and categorizes common symptoms reported from Facebook’s 3000-member Osseointegration Peer Support Group.
Join us on Thursday, September 22nd at 7 p.m. for a Facebook Live discussion between study author Kirsten Woodend and two of our PBO Group Certified Prosthetists. In addition to authoring this study, Kirsten herself underwent OI surgery in July 2018. After discussing Kirsten’s learnings from this research, we’ll open the discussion up to take questions from viewers. RSVP now to let us know if you’ll be joining us!
